Props for short film

    Within any movie or short film, one must have certain props to create detailed scenes and bring forth attention to their genre. As I began filming for my short film, I decided to focus down and pick seven props to use. Each prop will be used in different scenes but all have a connection within the film, as my genre is horror many of these will have a connection to that specific genre. Starting off, my first few scenes involve one of my props, "Note". The note within the film is this paper with direction the main protagonist must follow in order to survive, bringing the anticipation higher. Continuing from that scene comes "Blood", now this prop will be used in the wall scene continuing from the note. As the character reads the note he sees a wall with blood dripping down from it. This does play a role in the horror aspect and brings into key as the blood is shown as a symbol for the shadow creature, as well as the note. Next comes "Clocks", this tended to be one of my favorite props used in a scene. As the protagonist walks through the hallway he encounters multiple clocks on the walls, which all show different times. This is a message a link to the fact that not only is this character running out of time, but also can't manage to know what time it really is in the world. "Watch", one of the props I wasn't too keen on using however once I got to thinking of an ending this came in handy. This belongs to a scene in which the character finds something in his pocket after he reaches the end of the hallway. As he hasn't regained his memory since he woke up, seeing a watch he pulls out of this pocket makes him remember a part of this past involving his family, a key to the ending.  The next scene involves a living room lightened by "Candles", just simply bringing a presence unsettling to the character, as the room is still dark. Using a "Flashlight", he checks to see his surroundings only to see multiple items covered in the same blood seen on the bedroom wall. The flashlight is used throughout multiple scenes, until it's purpose is used to illuminate a "Painting" on the wall. This painting is the key to the whole story, as the shadow creature forced this human to venture in finding this painting only to realize the true horror behind the truth. The painting is only shown hanging on the wall until the final scene comes where the shadow creature takes awake the character. About how and what i've obtained in my possession so far. I have the watch, note, flashlight, candles (Might need a few more), and only 1/4 clocks. The painting and blood are still needed to be collected, as well as a few clocks and candles. Not to be afraid, that my plan is to retrieve these items before filming, however certain scenes may have been filmed not including the scenes involving the props.

Genre choice of film

          My main genre was horror which is what i wanted my film to be based behind. I always loved horror as a child due to the thrills and chills you get while watching those types of movies, which is something i thought i can capture in a short film. Horror has many aspects to it, including music, sound effects, lighting, and jump- scares. All these aspects are key, the sound effects are what made me truly interested in it behind the fact that many sounds are created by random objects by a mic, for say a loud bang/ thunder is created by a loud hit to a mental trashcan, or bones crunching can be a large amount raw pasta broken at the right time. It just makes it a lot more fun to create your own sounds with objects you could find at home. My film itself is a film based on a character who wakes up alone with a task to find an object before time runs out. Props revise

           Today's blog will be about my steps to regather certain props for my film. Now this film is still in works from given spectator comments as well as my own personal opinion, so changing the props was necessary in the final film. The certain mistakes which played through the first take of the film came as not getting the correct clocks for the hallway scene, using the wrong version of blood, and getting a new mask/costume and painting. Now some of these weren't mistakes, however it was and will be improvements with the final week I have to work on this project. Getting straight into it I came across parts in my film where I knew it could have been better, both in filming and features. The hallway scene came to a surprise for me as I thought my work was perfect, but as I took a look back the clocks just weren't doing it. Editing process on Laptop Pt 1

                The of editing of my end scenes as well as my pictures for my characters was being done on my phone. Now comes my first step/process of editing on my computer using editing apps. For these editing softwares, I decided to use two which were free and able to be accessed on my laptop. These two editing apps are called, "Imovie", and "FilmoraGo", however Imovie is the main one I used. I decided to go with these two since they were free and both were apple product editing softwares. In the future I may come across some type of software which works better which may be stated in my up coming blogs about my editing process. For now these work, they are simple and take clips and do as necessary by cutting them and inserting transitions from scene to scene. I kept Imovie, since my phone had the ability to access the app and transport over the edited clips so I went from there.
